Look. I love Baker. This is no secret to regular readers. But my early enthusiasm for this book is on the wane. It is big. And hefty. And about WWII. So, consider this a book that will remain in the sidebar for awhile. Did I mention it was a big? And about war?
Rivka Galchen: Atmospheric Disturbances: A Novel
While her reading at BEA didn't immediately grab me (I'll blame that on the beer and on texting Mark Sarvas during the panel), I've heard so much about this book that I'm uber-intrigued. Plus, Ed Park said it was incredible and, well, he's Ed Park.
Rachel Kushner: Telex from Cuba: A Novel
Kushner will be reading in LA on July 9th with Salvador Plascencia and I want to read this before she gets here. Her reading at BEA intrigued me as well...so there's that.

I've tried desperately to keep my three dogs out of my blog. I will continue this trend for as long as I can possibly hold out. However: Oscar, my English bulldog, does have a penchant for Pynchon as you can see on my latest LAist posting of literary events in Los Angeles.
In true Hollywood style, I may post outtakes after its been up at LAist for 48 hours. Or not. Because then it becomes the dog blog instead of the lit blog, and really, who wants that?
