Anne Enright Wins Booker
Still jet-lagged and a bit in shock upon my return (nothing smacks of "welcome home" more than returning stateside to learn you've lost your paid gig whilst you were touring the Irish countryside), I'd be entirely remiss if I didn't point out that Irish writer Anne Enright has won the Booker Prize for her novel The Gathering.
Which everyone (everyone, I tell you) was reading throughout Ireland during our two-week tour.
More to come when I've recovered both from jet-lag and the loss of mortgage-paying work. Ugh.

What?! Did LAist do something stupid?

No, no, not LAist. My big writing gig was for, gulp, a large automotive manufacturer. I had finished a big project right before I left and several were set to start when I got back (think new car manuals, marketing materials, flash tutorials, etc) but they got put on hold which resulted in no work for me for quite some time.
The good news: I can now seek writing work that is less...how shall we say it, automotive, in nature!
